"Times New Roman"">4 เดือนแล้ว เพิ่งเข้าใจนิยามของคำว่า solidarity อย่างแท้จริงก็ช่วงก่อนวันคริสต์มาส ที่สหภาพแรงงานนัดหยุดงานทั้งประเทศ เป็นเวลา 1 วันในวันศุกร์ที่ 23 ธันวาคม 2011 เพื่อประท้วงการตัดลดค่าใช้จ่ายภาครัฐในเรื่องสวัสดิการประกันสังคม โดยส่วนที่หยุดสนิทอย่างพร้อมเพรียงทั้งประเทศคือภาคการขนส่งทั้งรถไฟ รถบัส รถราง และเครื่องบิน แม้แต่โรงพยาบาลก็ร่วมหยุดงานด้วย มีแต่บริการห้องฉุกเฉิน โดยมีการประกาศให้ทราบล่วงหน้าหลายวันในทุกสื่อ เพื่อให้ประชาชนเตรียมตัว ผมเองต้องเปลี่ยนตั๋วรถไฟและเดินทางล่วงหน้าหนึ่งวันก่อนวันประท้วง เพื่อกลับมาหยุดเทศกาลปีใหม่ในไทย และดูเหมือนว่าเสียงบ่นจากประชาชนท้องถิ่นก็มีไม่มาก เหมือนจะรับรู้และเข้าใจว่าเป็นสิทธิเสียงตามระบอบประชาธิปไตย
เพลง solidarity forever นี้ก็เป็นเพลงหนึ่งที่สำคัญในของการเคลื่อนไหวของสหภาพแรงงานทั่วโลก เพลงนี้แต่งในปี 1915 โดย Ralph Chaplin คนงานเหมืองถ่านหินแถบเมืองชิคาโก สหรัฐอเมริกา เรียกร้องเอกภาพและความเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกันของกรรมการและคนงานในการต่อสู้ เพื่อความเป็นธรรม solidarity ของบ้านเขานั้นของจริง หยุดงานอัมพาตทั้งเมือง แม้ว่าข้อเรียกร้องจะยังไม่ชนะ แต่การต่อรองตามระบอบประชาธิปไตยกับรัฐบาลก็จะมีสมดุลมากขึ้น ทำให้ชวนคิดถึง solidarity สมัยเดือนพฤษภา 2535 ที่มีคำขวัญในการไล่รัฐบาลเผด็จการสุจินดา คราประยูร ที่ว่า "สามัคคีทุกพี่น้อง เรียกร้องประชาธิปไตย"
