Kota Bharu, 20 - 22 July 2017 - Young Muslim Association of Thailand (YMAT), the group led by YMAT president traveled to the 4th International Ijtima’ for Ummah Solidarity (Asia region) at Kelantan, Malaysia.

A number of Islamic organizations and movements were invited to the conference, including representatives from International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), Jamaat e Islami Pakistan, Saadet Party Turkey, Al-Hira Educational Society Nepal, Palestine Cultural Organization Malaysia, and etc. -- were gathered to discuss on topic “Ummah Solidarity”.

The conference officially began with an opening speech by Ustaz Dato' Bentara Kanan Haji Ahmad Yaakob, “We are ready to have this region (Kelatan) as a driving force to work for ‘Ummah Solidarity’ because the main cause of the weakness of Muslim Ummah is division among ourselves. Our Ummah has suffered this ailment for too long. We need to work together to overcome this chronic problem. We all are the key parts to bring the unity back to our Ummah – to bring back as one nation solidarity” said Ustaz Dato' Bentara Kanan Haji Ahmad Yaakob.

Afterward, Dato' Seri Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Bin Haji Awang respectively addressed speech on topic “A Role of Muslim Scholars for Ummah”, he said “We need to introduce Islam as a form of pondering and contemplation (tafakkur fi-d din). This is the role for Muslim Scholars. If the Revealed Book has deeply reached out to all Muslims, the stream of Islamophobia will be eliminated. However, this is not merely the traditional circle of Islamic studies, but we need to work together as Muslims in the service of Islam for all human beings”.

The regional people who live in the city had very much paid attention to such a significant event. The overall atmosphere was filled with vigorous and warm welcoming -- around with exhibition, shops, and booths. The conference interested people who live in the area and those overseas to come and join the ceremony. A large amount of crowded participant showed that the mission to drive for ‘Ummah Solidarity’ in sha Allah will meet its objectives.

The Young Muslim Association of Thailand (YMAT) is honored and appreciated to be a part of this meaningful conference. And this historic experience we learned from brothers and sisters around the world will drive us to keep on moving our contribution to our community at best.
