1. About Us: Deep South Watch (DSW)

Deep South Watch: Peace building through constructing discourse, discursive Practices, and formations

Established since August 2006, DSW embodies a coordinated organization and networking of civil society organizations, media, journalists, public health professionals, educators, and academics, locally and nationally working in the fields related to conflict resolutions of the Deep South violence. Generally an independent body, the organization is also structurally affiliated to Prince of Songkla University (PSU) through the Center for Conflict Studies and Cultural Diversity (CSCD), a PSU center for research excellence regarding Southern conflict and peace studies. DSW aims to accomplish 3 missions;

1. Organizing and managing the database systems for monitoring and analyzing the Southern violence and its consequences  
2.  Bringing about a valid understanding and awareness about violence and conflicts in this sub-region.
3. Formulating public sphere for participation from various social sectors, sharing the processes of conflict resolutions.

   2. to make public the statistics of Southern violence over years
   3. to analyze and present data, diagrams and graphs on public opinion surveys about the Southern violence

1. citations of the international and domestic media and journalists
2. references on many researches and academic publications
3. reliable sources of references on situational analyses and monitoring of international diplomats and organizations
4. enunciated in the public policy recommendations about Southern conflicts, as well as constructing issues for agenda-making concerning policy innovation (proposal about local public administration reforms, the special administration region for the Deep South, proposal for legal and justice reforms, war of ideas, supporting discourses about politics leading military approach etc.).
5. construct forums for coordination between local civil society networks
6. beckon dialogues and peace processes among all parties concerned
7. set in motion the organizational and human resource development projects and activities among government as well as non-governmental organizations operating in the region
8. formulate a new model of an alternative organization using public sphere, constructing discourses, and applying media to effectively catalyzing policy changes
